1 continuing education unit IAODAPCA*, NAADAC*, LCSW/LCPC***
This home study course will acquaint participants with cannabidiol (CBD), the second most plentiful cannabinoid in marijuana. Although CBD is no psychoactive, it is marketed and used for a variety of medical problems, including seizures, pain, inflammation, anxiety and depression. But what does the research say about CBD? Is it truly non-psychoactive? What proof is there that CBD can effectively treat the disorders for which it is sold? Is there any harm to a client using CBD if they have a substance use disorder? Will CBD show up on a “drug test”? These are other questions will be answered by this course.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the origin of natural and concentrated CBD
- Discuss the ability of CBD to produce psychoactive effects
- Discuss the research (or lack of) showing the therapeutic effects of CBD on different medical conditions
- Describe the cannabinoid “entourage effect”
- Identify different forms of CBD, both natural and concentrated
